This coif is constructed from dome-riveted flat rings alternating with solid flat rings. This alternating rivet construction lowers the cost of the armor by reducing the amount of careful rivet work required. The rings are made of mild steel. The rings are left in their natural steel finish. The rings are 18 gauge in thickness and 9mm in diameter.

A chainmail coif ably protects the head from cuts on the dark age or medieval battlefield – it is best paired with a padded cap to cushion the head from the impact of blows and to prevent the entangling of hair with mail.
